Frequently Asked Questions

When does the league run?

The SYSL season runs from Nov. 7th, 2009 through Feb.13th, 2010 with practices starting in October.

• Practices are typically either Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursday, depending on the coach. 
• The U6 division practices only once per week, and all other divisions practice twice per week. 
• The U6 through U12 divisions practice from 6-7:30 pm, and the U14 and older divisions practice from 7:30-9 pm. 
• Games are on Saturdays.

• Our divisions are:
• U6 (4 and 5 year olds), U8 (6 and 7 year olds), U10 (8 and 9 year olds), U12 (10 and 11 year olds), U14 (12 and 13 year olds), U16 (14 and 15 year olds), and U19 (16, 17 and 18 year olds). 
• The cut-off for birthdays is August 1st (i.e., a 6-year old with a birthday on July 31st would play in the U8 division, but a 6-year old with a birthday on August 2nd would play in the U6 division).

• Yes, all players get full uniforms (jersey, shorts and socks).

Yes, all players must come to practices and games with shin guards and a soccer ball (size specific to the Age Group Division; see Division Fact Sheet). 

Cleats are optional.

2.5 hours volunteer hours are required to satisfy parent’s obligations. Volunteering options include coaching, lining fields, concession duty, help during opening day (set up/clean up), picture day, tournaments (year-end) and closing day.
